Stand at Playa El Tunco, the main beach here, and look out to sea and you’ll see a rock sticking out of the water just offshore, resembling an upside-down pig. That's “El Tunco!” Yep. Head up the shore a bit to Playa El Sunzal and stand at Sunzal Point and you’ll see surf and surfers. And if you hang around at the beach and look out as the sun goes down, you’ll see a glorious, orange-glow sunset over the Pacific. In town, there’s really just one street, but so what, right? There’s a handful of bars where you can nibble on nachos and sip a rum-and-coke or vodka soda, or just gulp beer, and a few restaurants where you can tuck into cheese- and squash-stuffed pupusas with dollops of tomato salsa. And yeah, it’s a totally gringo town, and you'll know it!
