Istanbul Turkey Travel Guide

[Last updated January 20, 2021]

At the Topkapi Palace you'll see jewels and gilded thrones and Ottoman relics, at Sultanahmet you'll see mosques with minarets and layered domes that look like meringues piled on top of each other, and at the Hodjapasha Dance Theater you'll see whirling dervishes spinning like tops. You can bargain-hunt in the eye-popping maze of the Grand Bazaar, or stop by a café in the Beyoğlu pocket for a Turkish coffee and baguette sandwich they call kokoreç, or wander down to the Hotel Péra to see the room where Agatha Christie wrote Murder On the Orient Express. And that sickly sweet confection, lokum, it's pure Turkish Delight!
