There are uni students bingeing on shots of Marskin Ryyppy, that vodka-based spirit, and Finnish bands belting out metal, rock and gothic at the bars along Hämeenkatu in the center of town. If you go and stand on the statue-adorned Hämeensilta Bridge, you'll have a grand view of the Tammerkoski rapids, and if you poke around a bit, you'll discover small museums devoted, one each, to shoes, hockey, comic books, mass communications, and even one to communist bigwig Lenin. It's like, wow! what a find!
