Zermatt Switzerland Travel Guide

[Last updated January 1, 2021]

You’ll discover a glam-and-glitz ski resort, fast paced, and overrun by jet setters. The Matterhorn is in clear view, with its distinctive hook, as are more than 30 other surrounding peaks with elevations over 4,000 meters. You can catch a gondola to the top of some of the best ski runs in the Alps, and even ski into Italy over border and down to the Italian town of Cervinia. In the village here you'll find high-end shops and boutiques and a lively aprés-ski scene. You can bar-hop or splash at one of the restaurants for some Schüblig (dried sausage) and rösti and maybe even homemade apple strudel with a generous dollop of custard. But bring a fat wallet, for it’s a pricey joint.
