You can stand on the tiny balcony where she once stood and, in the courtyard directly below, watch actors enact scenes from the play – in Italian! rather than olde English. And if you wander into the old town, say in the Piazza delle Erbe, you can splash at a café there and tuck into some lasagne al forno and tiramisù in a glass; later on, you can even take in a live performance of Verdi’s Aida in a grand setting at the massive Roman amphitheater.
