There’s so much “New Baroque” – reconstructed from the ground up – that you could practically drown in it. Go and see the triumphal Frauenkirche, the one with the iconic dome that dominates the city skyline; or catch a Wagner opera at the gilded Semperopr (opera house) that’ll totally dazzle you; or pop over to the Zwinger, former royal palace, where you’ll see a stunning porcelain collection and, at the Gemäldegalerie, the famous Sistine Madonna by Raphael. You can walk along the elevated riverside promenade and watch the late afternoon glow of the sun over the River Elbe; or stroll down Augustusstrasse to see the Procession of Princes, a 335-foot-long wall mural made from 25,000 Meissen porcelain tiles; or, hey, simply kick back at a café on Neumarkt Square, surrounded by – what else? – more Baroque, and think what a trip it is – just being here!
