You’re in the capital of perfume here. If you roll into town in spring or early summer you’re likely to see hills covered in fragrant flowers – May rose, jasmine, lavender, mimosa, orange blossom, violets – and you may even get a whiff of their fragrances. In town, head over to Fragonard, the oldest parfumerie here, and browse in their perfumes museum to see vintage perfume paraphernalia, then take their factory tour for a full-on on perfume making. It’s quite a trip! Later on, you can wander in the narrow, cobbled lanes in the old town, passing through arched passageways and, where the lanes get too steep, climbing flights of stone steps, winding around colorful old buildings that offer up great photo ops. And if you take a deep breath, you might even detect a hint of May rose or jasmine in the air!
