Austin Texas Travel Guide
It’s a Texas town, but a pretty cool one. And you’ll see. It’s a little bit Texas, a little bit chill, a little bit hip, a little bit college town, with a whole lot of music pulsing through it. Just walk down Sixth Street – the part they call "Dirty Sixth," between I-35 and Congress Ave – on practically any night, but especially on a weekend, and you’ll find it party-people-packed, with any number of music venues blasting out rock, blues and even country, mostly with live bands. There are shops, bars and dance clubs in the mix, and Tex-Mex food joints where you can chomp through a taco salad served in an open-cupped taco shell or tuck into a juicy enchilada. But for the full-on, come in mid to late March during the SXSW music fest and you'll be treated to endless emerging acts – the likes of The White Stripes, Amy Winehouse, Bon Iver and Kid Cudi – bound for stardom! And how cool is that?
