Sun Valley Idaho Travel Guide
It’s Idaho’s go-to ski resort, right by the town of Ketchum. There’s an old lodge where you can check in, a history museum where you can trace the story of the ski resort back to the 30s, browse in the handful of shops for souvenirs and skiwear, and pop into a pub for some pub grub and craft beer or a splash or two of locally-distilled Warfield malt whiskey. In the wintertime, you’ll see ice sculptures scattered around, and in late March, if you happen to be there, you can see premieres of indie films at the long-running Sun Valley Film Festival that draws celebs and an uppity film crowd from around the world. But the best thing about Sun Valley? The views – of Baldy Mountain, which has most of the area's ski runs, and the distant hazy mountains over which you can watch the sun go down in a golden glow.
