You’ll feel like you’re on the edge of the Amazon rainforest, and you really are. You’re just downriver from where the Rio Negro and Solimões River converge to form the mighty Amazon River. You can catch a riverboat straight up the Amazon into the jungle and to the river lodges there. In town, you can linger in the Paris-style municipal market, Mercado Adolfo Lisboa; or tiptoe along the treetop walkways at Parque do Mindú to spy on those pied tamarin monkeys; or stroll around the Praia da Lua beach area amid beer and coconut juice vendors; or, heck, even let your hair down at the nightclubs and discos in the uppity beachfront digs of Ponta Negra. You’re in the Amazonas here! And it’s all good!
