Mendoza Argentina Travel Guide
You've likely sipped that jammy, full-bodied, dark purplish Argentine Malbec somewhere, right? Well, this is where it comes from! And those SA Cabernet Sauvignons too. And that olive oil. Here, you’re smack in the middle of the largest wine-producing region in South America. There are literally hundreds of bodegas in spitting distance of town, and any number of tour guides to take you there, just day-tripping. In town, you can ride around in electric trolley buses, hang out in shade-dappled plazas, sip wine at the tasting nooks, and tuck into Argentine-style empanadas – crescent-shaped pastries stuffed with ground beef, hardboiled eggs, green olives and onions, and spiced with paprika, cumin and oregano – at those small, unpretentious restaurants. And it's a good bet that from your hotel room window you can also see Mt Aconcagua, the highest peak in the Western Hemisphere, no?
