First thing, go and see the 70-meter-long, embroidered cloth tapestry that hangs at the Tapestry Museum, depicting in sequential-narrative art the events leading up to the Norman Conquest of England in 1066. It’s possibly the earliest comic strip known to man, and it’s quite something! In town, you can wander in streets draped in colorful banners and crawling with tourists, browse in the small, quirky shops and offbeat fashion boutiques, and maybe even stop by one of the cafés or bistros to tuck into one of the locally-concocted salads, tarts, quiches or even a seafood or cheese platter, and wash it all down with a pint or two of cider. The food here will truly surprise you!
