You’ve gotta hit this one running. It’s a surfer-cum-party town, with a hopping nightlife, right on the Pacific. You can catch some big waves at Hermosa Beach just to the southeast of town, or head northward to Carara National Park to zipline through the rainforest there and see scarlet macaws, maybe even feed the crocodiles on the Tárcoles River, or just watch a glowing sunset over the ocean. Once the sun goes down, hey, it’s time to rock: just head down Avenida Pastor Diaz, the main drag, and pop into Le Loft, the pick of the bunch, or, frankly, any of the joints there, and you’ll be in the thick of it, ordering mojitos until the break of dawn!
