There are amazing old buildings of the Spanish colonial kind in the historic center, even some ruins, and a can’t-miss, picture-perfect volcano looming over the city. You can walk in cobbled streets, pass beneath the Santa Catalina Arch, and linger in the old square, Plaza Mayor, for a bit of atmosphere. There are colorful, street-side souvenir and craft shops to poke around and maybe pick up one of those handmade Guatemalan dolls to take back home, and small restaurants where you can tuck into baked and stuffed bell peppers or a juicy enchilada. Or, hey, just kick back at the Café Sky rooftop bar with a coconut rum mojito they call cojito, and take in the crackling views of the old town and surrounding volcanoes. Wicked!
