You'll see lots of surfers and backpackers, and lots of locals. But go to El Remanso, the premier surf beach here, or Playa Maderas, and you can catch some good waves. You can even get surfing lessons right there and then catch those waves. At the beach bars they’ll pour you La Victoria and Toña lager and locally-distilled spiced rum, and big cocktails in big glasses. And if you hang around, you can even watch a sunset over the Pacific with a flaming orange sky. Back in town, there are more bars and party joints, and cheap restaurants serving ceviche and other seafood-centric local fare. And you know, it’s only a bus ride from Managua to here! Salud!
