Get a good set of wheels, think convertible, top down, and let ‘er rip. This is the Amalfi Coast of California, straight down Highway 1. Get a lick of those brilliant sunsets and the clifftop vistas of the mostly rugged coastline, walk down to tucked-away beach coves and see sparkling rock formations, maybe even hike along the trails in the Santa Lucia Mountains. On the way, stop in at the Nepenthe restaurant to laze on their deck with a bottle of Lucia Pinot Noir and bites of thin toast smeared with goat cheese and roasted garlic, and eat-your-heart-out views that you won't soon forget. Oh, and check out the Coastal Gallery and adjacent library while you're there, to see resident writer-artist Henry Miller’s fab paintings and collection of books. It’s a kickass 90-mile drive, twisting and turning, top to bottom!
