You can pop into any of the bars along Aleksi, the main street, to put down a Finlandia vodka cocktail or a couple of Helsinki porters or even one of those effervescent, gin-based beverages they call "long drinks." Later on, you can browse in a full-blown design district and binge on edgy, urban Finnish creations. And, yeah, if you're around on New Year's Eve, drop by the Tavastia Club in the center of town to let your hair down and groove to the electric sounds of homegrown Finnish rock band HIM live – it's practically a tradition here! – as they crank out tracks from their album Razorblade Romance to wow the crowds and bring down the house in a screaming "hell yeah!" moment!
