Winchester England Travel Guide

Now, you may not have seen King Arthur’s knights’ digs previously, but if you go to the Great Hall of the old Winchester Castle, for that’s all that remains of the 12th-century castle, you’ll see King Arthur’s Round Table, the real thing, with all the names of the Knights of the Round Table etched into the old wood along the edge, where each one sat. But move about a bit and go and also see the lovely, medieval Winchester Cathedral, or the ruins of Wolvesey Castle, or pop into the Green Jackets Museum to see a scale model of the Waterloo battlefield. Later on, you can wander in High Street and some of those other offshoot streets in the city center and splash at one of the cafes there for tea and scones and people-watching. Pure joy!
