Pretty as they come. Seriously, it’s the loveliest small city in Scotland. You can walk around in its medieval old town in cobbled streets lined with craft shops. Or head up to Sterling castle, a large, photogenic fortress perched on a hill overlooking the town. Or go to see the 12th-century Church of Holy Rude where sovereigns have been crowned in years past. There are spires and clocktowers rising above the city’s skyline, and scores of old-fashioned inns and pubs tucked into its picturesque old buildings where you can pull up to the bar and order - what else? - Scotch on the Rocks! Cheers!
