It’s a pretty little village, deliciously medieval, perched on a hilltop, with ancient houses spiraling down the hillsides and granddaddy views right across the Mediterranean and, on a clear day, even out to the island of Corsica. And how cool is that? In the village, you can browse in a motley of whimsical shops and galleries, stop by the Fragonard perfumery for a whiff of their fragrances, splash at one of the provincial restaurants for a serving of orange duck, and pop into La Cigale, the go-to watering hole in town, where you could easily run into a member or two of the rock band U2 who have a house up here. Yep. And you know, for a bit of philosophical wandering, you can walk down the wooded path that Friedrich Nietzsche once strolled along as he conjured up parts of his defining work, Thus Spake Zarathustra. Trippy, right?
