Tuck into a heady fish stew the Marseillais call bouillabaisse, stroll along the Corniche to take in a sweep of the Mediterranean, linger over a glass of pastis at a bar in Le Parnier or Vieux Port, or catch the train to the hilltop Notre Dame de la Garde and look across the city and out to the offshore Château d'If of Count of Monte Cristo fame. Here you're in France's biggest melting pot and its oldest, loudest, most spirited city, the one that inspired the French national anthem, 'La Marseillaise'. So: Vive la France! Non?
