You can drive along palm tree-lined streets in Hope Ranch for a glimpse of the homes of Hollywood celebs, settle back at a café on State Street with a Santa Ynez chardonnay and chicken nachos and sea urchins and people-watch, or climb into the tower at the Old Courthouse for a grand view of that mass of white-stucco buildings with red-tiled roofs tumbling down to the ocean.
