Throw your arms up in the air and scream down the Giant Dipper roller-coaster at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, then work your way through an over-sized bolt of cotton candy and go and splash on the broad, sandy beach right there. There are seafood joints serving lobster and squid at the Municipal Pier, vegan cafés in Westside and downtown where you can nibble on an organic arugula-and-beet salad, and buskers, street artists and pot smokers down Pacific Mall. And if you go to Steamers Lane by the Surfing Museum at the southwest end of town, you can watch surfers in wetsuits riding some pretty big swells just off the coast. Yep. It's a funky sort of town, surfer-centric and with seriously cool vibes!
