You’re in a 400-year-old, all-American port city, where heritage tourism abounds. Just head over to Market Square, a brick-paved plaza with old brick buildings of the Revolutionary kind, where you can get a whiff of that local flavor, maybe poke around in the quaint shops and boutiques, even stop by a bakery there for some blueberry muffins and people watching. Or, head down Congress Street, which goes off the square, for some window shopping, or stroll down Market Street and splash at the Portsmouth Brewing Company for a flight of craft beers and a tall club sandwich. And, just so you know, there's no sales tax here – and it's only a stone’s throw from Boston!
