It's a magical place up in the Lower Himalayas in northeastern India. Here, you can sip tea like a connoisseur at Nathmulls' Sunset Lounge at Chowrasta Mall in the town center as you look out over the Himalayan landscape, maybe even splash at one of the other cafés there to nibble on tea-dipped Britannia biscuits as you people-watch and hear the melancholic sounds of the sarangi players just outside. Or, hey, grab a few wonton-soup-dipped momos at Chowk Bazar, then ride the choo-choo train over the lush, terraced hills to Ghoom, perched at 7,400 feet. And if you head out to Tiger Hill on the periphery of town just before daybreak, you can see the sun come up over a bed of clouds to drape the snow-capped Kanchenjunga cluster of Himalayan peaks in translucent shades of orange and gold, egged on by Hindu and Buddhist chants and even bursts of rock music! Out of this world!
